This drawing of a kitty in wrapping paper is the fourth in a series of mini prints
S ometimes you just see something and think ‘Hey! That’d make a cute drawing!’
That’s how it starts. A whim.
So you run and grab a camera and plunk down, but the kitty has now given up on the wrapping paper and has taken to climbing the drapes.
So you pluck the cat off the drapes and put him back into the sea of wrapping paper, but kitty is tired of wrapping paper and bolts down the hall in that sideways, tails-up run kitties use.
So you chase kitty down the hall, which freaks kitty out and the charges under the bed. So you chirrup at him and talk baby talk which doesn’t work so you reach under to try and pull him out, but kitty backs away out of reach.
More baby talk to entice the little blighter out, and you get the feeling that someone is watching you, and you look at the door and see The Colonel looking disgusted at the undignified sounds you’re making.
“Why are you talking like that?!’ she demands.
‘Like what?’ you ask.
“That whimpery-whiney-gibberish.’
‘I’m trying to sound soothing.’
‘Well stop. It’s irritating.’
As you’re being chastised, the kitty has come out from under the bed and is rubbing affectionately against The Colonel. She bends down, scoops him up, and hands him to you.
‘Hurry up. Breakfast is almost ready’ she orders.
You take the kitty and he begins knawing on your thumb and you grab the camera and set him down in the heap of paper and start waggling your finger underneath to get him to play again. The kitty says something uncalled for and walks out to see how breakfast is coming. You retrieve him and he races back down the hallway.
The Colonel, having had just about enough, begins cleaning up the wrapping paper.
In a burst of genius, you quickly snap a few shots of the paper before it’s cleared out.
Maybe you can cobble together other pics of the kitty, or better yet, find a kitty who’s bribable to help you get a good shot…
As it turns out, it takes 4 years to find another kitty who’s the right age, size, and demeanor to help.
